Key Responsibilities:
- Manipulate and edit video scenes in a way that is invisible to the audience
- Take briefs to grasp projects’ needs and specifications
- Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity
- Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the video
- Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects, as indicated by project need
- Create rough and final cuts for evaluation and feedback
- Ensure logical sequencing and smooth playback
- Consult with stakeholders from pre-production through production and post-production processes
- Continuously investigate and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency
- Special requests made by Instructor including but not limited to: Lab upkeep, equipment repair and managing equipment check out/in
Required Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a video editor
- Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Final Cut X)
- Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
- Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity
- Creative mind and storytelling skills
