As you can see, my connections are limited but centered around the things that I live for: faith, family, athletics and technology. With this in mind, I’m in amazement on how I have transformed over the past decades and thus my priorities reflect this. As a believer and educator (first) my vision is centered on impacting lives in positive way so they can create a better society for all of us to share. This includes but not limited to educating others, assisting the infirm and overall providing hope for those who feel it doesn’t exist. This is where serving in our schools is rewarding but a challenging forum to achieve this goal. As a coach, I have the honor of teaching my players more than just “x’s and O’s, but most importantly about life and how it reflects the preparation, challenges and victories of life. As you already know this undertaking is tedious and can only be done with the guidance and consultation of my coaching colleagues from the high school and college ranks. Each person is able to share ideas and experiences that are invaluable in the molding of young athletes.
The technology or digital tools that are the most significant to me are Twitter, Hudl and YouTube. Though these may be deemed as social networking platforms, each holds an important role in how I perform my job each day. The lesser known of my digital tools is Hudl. This program is used for coaches and allows us to view, edit and game plan on the web. For example, in the past coaches had to always meet at the Fieldhouse and break down game film for hours and only had one means of viewing it. With Hudl, you can access everything from the web and send messages to players, other coaches from anywhere you have the internet (even your smart phone). As a result, multiple staff can work all at once and now sharing game film is made easier than ever! I enjoy the ability to consult with any coach anywhere and get their expertise on various subjects. As for the implementation of YouTube, I’m a video production instructor, so images and media significant aids in my instruction. As previously mentioned my connections are not vast but I too enjoy the ability to tie all these resources together and further engage in personal and professional growth.
